It was my pleasure to stand with my colleagues and our men and women in law enforcement this afternoon at Suffolk PBA Headquarters to call on Democratic lawmakers to pass the “Protect Those Who Protect Us” package.
Long Island Democrats have chosen to follow their NYC leader’s example and abandoned the police. Passing the ‘Protect Those Who Protect Us” package would have let our embattled officers know that their state supports them. But, when it was offered in the Senate, every single Senate Democrat, including my opponent, sat silently as their New York City-led conference failed to pass it when they had a chance.
Albany Democrats have turned their backs on police and allowed lawlessness to thrive. Public safety is the first obligation of government. Public safety is impossible without effective police departments.
